How Does a Paddle Dryer Work ?
1.) The FD blower draws fresh air from the atmosphere through a filtration element to prevent impurities from entering.
2.) The incoming air is heated by passing through a tube shell heat exchanger and brought to the desired temperature using a heating medium.
3.) The feed with high moisture content is dropped into the Paddle Dryer, where the moisture evaporates due to heat transfer from the hollow shafts and the jacket. The feed is also broken down into smaller particles by the hammers on the paddle through a three-phase process (plastic, shearing, and granular).
4.) The ID fan carries the mixture of powder and air to the cyclone separator, where it is separated and discharged through a rotary airlock valve.
5.) The mixture is sprayed with processed water in a scrubber, which settles in a scrubber tank. Fresh air is then discharged from the chimney into the atmosphere.

FAQs & Content
Frequently asked questions (FAQs) about paddle dryers can provide information and clarify any doubts or misunderstandings people may have about how these drying systems work and how they can be used. FAQs highlight the advantages and limitations of paddle dryers, allowing users to make informed decisions about whether this type of dryer is the best option for their needs.
What is a paddle dryer and how does it work?
Paddle dryer is an industrial drying machine designed to efficiently remove moisture from a wide range of materials. This versatile equipment is used in various industries, including chemical, pharmaceutical, food processing, and waste management. A paddle dryer works by utilizing a heat transfer method combined with mechanical agitation.
What types of materials can be dried in a paddle dryer?
Paddle dryers can efficiently dry a variety of materials including chemical products (polymers, resins), pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs, excipients), food items (grains, cereals, pulps, meat by-products), and various types of sludge (industrial, ETP, STP, municipal). They are also suitable for drying minerals, inorganic materials (clays, silicas), and industrial by-products (spent grains, brewer’s yeast). Their high thermal efficiency and versatility make them valuable across multiple industries.
What is the pricing and cost of a paddle dryer?
The cost of a paddle dryer typically ranges from $50,000 to $20,00,000, depending on factors such as size, capacity, material of construction, customization, and manufacturer. Larger units with higher capacity, advanced features, and custom designs can drive up the price. For precise pricing, it is recommended to contact AS Engineers directly.
